    Frequently Asked Questions

Where do these shorts come from?
Each year, we scour the globe for the best new films from around the world for kids and families to screen at our annual, Oscar® qualifying Festival. After the Festival, we select the most beloved, audience favorite and award-winning films and curate them into brand new programs to screen at independent cinemas, museums, libraries, and community centers around the country.

    What are the shorts?
A complete lineup is listed for each program. View them here.

Can I watch the shorts before I book them?
Of course. Screeners are available for all programs. To request a screener, click on the request a screener button above.

Does my organization need to license each individual film?
Nope. We clear screening rights with all of the filmmakers directly.

    What's included in a booking?
Each booking includes up to two public screenings of the selected program(s). Programs can be booked individually or as a package of all four. In addition to the film programs, we provide:

    • Film stills and descriptions
    • Program trailer
    • Promotional copy
    • Graphics for promotion on social media
    • Printable ballots for audience voting
    • In-depth tips on producing a successful event

What if I want to screen a program more than twice? Or two programs once each?
We're happy to work out an arrangement that meets your needs. Just include your specific request in the booking form, and we'll take it from there.

    What formats are available?
We offer DCP, HD ProRes, and .mp4

How will we receive the media?
All of our programs are available via digital transfer.

    What are your rates?
Booking rates range from $475 to about $1,600. We also offer non-profit rates.

We work with many local schools. Can we screen these programs for students?
Absolutely! We also offer FilmEd Field Trip packages, which include up to five screenings for school groups, pre- and post-screening guides to share with teachers, and best practices on engaging students in conversation about the films.

I'm interested. How do I book a screening?
Please complete our booking request form with as much information as possible. We'll be in touch to work out any details and guide you through next steps.

    I have more questions.
Please reach out to bookings@nyicff.org, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
