join our board of directors
We are looking for individuals who believe that art has the power to inspire creativity, collaboration, and build community. We want to meet leaders who believe in the power of film to bring individuals together, to shape thinkers and to foster understanding in young minds. If this resonates with you, we’d love to connect!
The board of directors is integral to the success of all NYICFF programs, including the annual Festival, FilmEd Field Trips, and Kid Flicks, our national tour. The NYICFF board comprises a diverse collection of passionate and committed professionals from media, technology, education and other non-profit work. We are a collaborative team working to nurture, grow and govern NYICFF. Governance includes leadership, strategic vision and fiduciary responsibility. Our board ensures that NYICFF achieves its mission and fulfills its obligations under the law.
To maintain our strength and success as a board, we ask our directors to:
- Attend screenings, special events and benefits
- Give generously to our annual fund each fiscal year (minimum annual expected contribution is $6,000)
- Attend board meetings and serve on a least one committee: Nominating, Governance, Finance, and/or Fundraising
- Serve a minimum term of three years
- Share special knowledge, experience or expertise, and make available resources from their network to work with management on particular issues or problems
- Provide ongoing effort and advocacy as an ambassador on behalf of NYICFF to help build the donor base, expand the board, and support our programs
Directors typically spend 5-10 hours per month on NYICFF matters, with additional time commitments during the Festival and intensive planning periods. If you are interested in being considered for our board, please contact our board search committee at info@nyicff.org.
